Counselling
You don't have to figure it all out on your own.
Sometimes life feels heavier than it should. You may be struggling to make sense of what you're feeling, navigating a difficult transition, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or expectations, or simply know that something needs to change but aren't sure where to begin.
Counselling can offer a place to slow down, breathe, and be genuinely heard.
At Blue Sky and Big Dreams Counselling, I believe you are more than the challenges you're facing. My role isn't to fix you or tell you who you should be. It is to come alongside you, create a space where you feel safe and understood, and help you reconnect with your own strengths, values, needs, and possibilities.
What can counselling help with?
I work with individuals and families experiencing a wide range of concerns, including:
Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
Grief, loss, and life transitions
Eating disorders or disordered eating
Emotional regulation and coping
Self-esteem and self-worth
Identity, belonging, and relationships
School, academic, and life pressures
Neurodiversity and navigating a world that isn't always designed for you
Trauma and difficult life experiences
Parenting and family challenges
Feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of what comes next
Building greater self-awareness, resilience, and confidence
You don't need to have a diagnosis or a clearly defined problem to come to counselling. Sometimes the reason is simply, "I'm not feeling like myself, and I need some help figuring things out."
That is enough.
My Approach
My counselling approach is warm, collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with a relationship where you feel respected and understood.
I draw from several therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, attachment-informed practice, and somatic approaches.
I am particularly interested in the connection between our thoughts, emotions, bodies, relationships, and lived experiences. Sometimes our bodies communicate things before we have words for them. Learning to notice and understand those signals can become an important part of healing and change.
Depending on your needs and goals, counselling might involve talking things through, developing practical strategies, exploring patterns and relationships, learning ways to regulate your nervous system, reconnecting with your values, or gently experimenting with new ways of moving through the world.
There is no single right way to do counselling. We find what works for you.
Working with Young People and Families
My background in education, inclusive education, and school counselling has given me extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and young adults.
I have particular experience working with young people navigating anxiety, grief, identity, eating disorders, relationships, belonging, emotional regulation, trauma, learning differences, and the many pressures that come with growing up.
I also have specialized experience and training supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, eating disorders and diverse learning and developmental needs. I strive to create counselling spaces that are flexible, accessible, strengths-based, and respectful of neurodiversity.
And sometimes the person who needs support is the parent.
Supporting a young person can be exhausting, confusing, and lonely. Counselling can provide parents and caregivers with a place to step back, breathe, gain perspective, and develop tools for responding to challenges while staying connected to the person they love.
A Place to Begin
You don't need to know exactly what you need from counselling before you reach out.
We can start wherever you are.
Maybe you're looking for practical tools. Maybe you need space to process something painful. Maybe you're trying to understand yourself better. Maybe you're ready for something in your life to change.
Whatever brings you here, we can begin there.
There is always a next step. And you don't have to take it alone.
Blue Sky and Big Dreams Counselling offers a compassionate space to be heard, reconnect with yourself, discover new possibilities, and find a little more room for hope, movement, and possibility.
